Cryptocurrency trading is a risky business, and no one knows this better than the team at Coinbase Pro. In order to help our users trade as safely and securely as possible, we’ve put together a step-by-step guide on how to login to your Coinbase Pro account.
Before we get started, it’s important to know that there are two types of login authentication at Coinbase Pro:
• Your username and password
• A two-factor authentication (2FA) code
Your username and password will grant you access to your account so that you can view your account balance and place trades. However, in order to actually place a trade, you’ll need to enter a 2FA code as well.
2FA codes are unique, one-time codes that are generated by an app on your phone. Coinbase Pro uses the Google Authenticator app to generate 2FA codes. Once you have the Google Authenticator app installed on your phone, you’ll need to link it to your Coinbase Pro account.
To do this, login to your Coinbase Pro account and navigate to the “Security” tab. From there, scroll down to the “Two-Factor Authentication” section and click on the “Enable” button.
Coinbase will then provide you with a QR code and a 16-digit backup code. Open the Google Authenticator app on your phone and tap on the “+” icon. From there, select “Scan barcode” and scan the QR code that Coinbase Pro provided.
Once the code has been scanned, the Google Authenticator app will generate a 6-digit code. This code will need to be entered on the Coinbase Pro website in order to enable 2FA.
With 2FA now enabled, you’ll need to enter a 6-digit code from the Google Authenticator app every time you login to Coinbase Pro or place a trade.
Now that we’ve covered the basics of account login and 2FA, let’s get into the actual step-by-step guide.
- 1.Go to pro.coinbase.com and enter your email address and password in the “Sign In” section.
- 2.Once you’ve entered your credentials, click on the “Sign In” button.
- 3.You will then be prompted to enter a 6-digit code from the Google Authenticator app. Enter the code and click on the “Verify” button.
- 4.If the code is entered correctly, you will be logged in to your Coinbase Pro account. From here, you can view your account balance and place trades.
